The Master Plan will serve as a blueprint that can be used by state government, local communities, private organizations, and philanthropy to build environments that promote an age-friendly California.

Judy Thomas, CCCC’s CEO, serves on the MPA Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC), and in that role she has worked to educate other stakeholders and the administration about the importance of palliative care and advance care planning, and to promote their inclusion in the MPA. This is your chance to weigh in and amplify CCCC’s advocacy.  If you have not already done so, please submit your comments before the July 2 deadline. Don’t know what to emphasize?  Here are a few suggestions:

  • Funding for a public education and communication campaign about the benefits of palliative care and advance care planning.
  • Expanded training opportunities for healthcare providers in palliative care, end-of-life conversations, and advance care planning.
  • Establishment of a POLST registry.
  • Expansion of palliative care under Medi-Cal.
  • Inclusion of serious illness and advance care planning into high school health education.
  • Increase Medi-Cal rates for advance care planning.
The SAC will share its final recommendations with the administration in October 2020. The administration will release the final Master Plan for Aging in December of this year.  Learn more>>
